Release changes Now that package recipes in Launchpad are out of beta, Vineyard will start publishing daily builds instead of the testing releases you’ve seen so far. This means that although there is already a new daily build out, it does not yet include functioning theme support (not in the GUI at least), but don’t…

I made a mistake in the version numbers in the Testing PPA which made it impossible to upgrade the packages. This has now been fixed, but you most likely need to first uninstall python-wine and vineyard and then re-install them after updating your package information. Sorry for the trouble. Good news is that the Karmic,…

After the somewhat disappointing release of the beta (did anyone download it?), I thought I’d tell a bit about the new features. Steam is supported quite nicely. Steam applications and games are listed and can be run just like normal programs as well as uninstalled directly from Vineyard. New funtions have been added to the…

After months of hard work I finally feel that Vineyard and python-wine are ready for a beta release. Program adding is not enabled yet, but here are lots of other goodies: indicator support, winetricks integration, pre-installation of support packages when double-clicking an exe, new configuration options, direct ISO/BIN/NRG/IMG/MDF support for drives, improved cli-client, the beginnings…

Yeah, I know; it’s been a while. But I’ve been busy! I promise! Today I got some time to work on a little thing I’ve been meaning to do for quite some time. Let’s see if you can guess it from this screenshot: That’s right, now no matter if you launch a program from within…

Any chance you’ll also upload Lucid packages (a lot of people are still using it since it’s LTS)?

Ah, thank you. This is much better!

So I’m a newbie in linux. I am using ubuntu 64 maverick. I’ve tried to run a xna game, and Vineyard icon starts for a short wile, than disappear. The game I’m trying to run is bloodline champions. In the error, it says that I must install mono, but I see the .net version I need to run in the installer. aka 2.0 sp2. What should I do?

Absolutely. The next update will be for Karmic, Lucid and Maverick.

I’m afraid I can’t do much to help you here as I’m not familiar with Bloodline Champions. You might find some info of use at the Bloodline Champions beta thread here: http://www.bloodlinechampions.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=3954 .
I can’t read it, since I don’t have access to the beta forum, and it’s for the Mac version of Wine, but maybe you can find what you need anyway.

thanks. But the problem I’ve experienced was installing the .net framework, not the game. The game installed as a breeze.
The net framework, in the other hand, didn’t. When I clicked to install from the vineyard menu, the vineyard Icon did appear in my notification area, but just for an instant, and after that, it went away

I guess I’ve found the problem. I need .net framework 3.5 to run the game I want.

Currently Vineyard doesn’t provide feedback on install procedures (will be fixed soon), but they should work. Try clicking install again and leave Vineyard to run for some time (up to around 15 minutes, depending on internet speed) and see if the installer doesn’t appear.

So I’ve managed to make the .net framework 3.5 to tray to install. It downloads everything it needs, but crashes when installing. It says I must use “turn windows features on or off in the control panel” to install or configure this app. So I’m guessing its not vineyards problem, as much is a wine incapability

thabkost, maybe this will help (from http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=10166&iTestingId=25041):
Open a terminal in the configuration from Vineyard (Tools->Open a Terminal..) and run try the following, one after the other:
winetricks dotnet20
winetricks dotnet30
wine /path/to/dotnet35setup.exe
I’d be interested in hearing if this works, as it would be nice for Vineyard to do it automatically.

it starts the download, about 328 megas, but only if I set the windows version to vista
